The Close of the Day

I have missed seeing sunsets lately.  Where have I been when the sun is setting?  What has the weather been like again?  What have I been busy doing as the sun said goodbye to another day?  Hmmmm, obviously, I have not been outdoors or near a window to see the setting sun.  🙁  Yet, I can recall a few times as of late where I have been driving or coming out of a store when the array of colors splashed across the sky grabbed my attention and I pointed it out to our kids.  Of course, because it was a busy “coming and going” moment, I did not have my camera nearby.  I remember even pulling off to the side of the road one day and hopping out of the car to snap a quick picture (or three!) with my cell phone.  Yet, I couldn’t quite get the quality of image I would desire with my phone.  All this said, posting these pictures are my way of getting a sunset fix.  🙂

Happy New Year!

I was in the house working away when my husband, who had been working outdoors, popped his head in the door and said, “You should grab your camera and come check out this sunset.”  I didn’t even think twice about it.  I just picked up my camera and followed him outside.  He was right!  The sunset was lovely, vibrant, majestic.  I found a few spots from which to capture the moment and just soak in the beauty and quite that surrounded me.  Ahhh, what a great last sunset for 2011!  Here is to looking forward to all 2012 will hold – Happy New Year, All!

Beyond The Sunset

I was at a Memorial Service yesterday for a sweet friend and heard this song for the first time!

Beyond The Sunset
Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning.  When with our Saviour heaven’s begun.
Earth’s toiling ended, O glorious dawning.  Beyond the sunset when day is done.
Beyond the sunset, no clouds will gather, no storms will threaten, no fears annoy.
O day of gladness, O day unending.  Beyond the sunset eternal joy.
Beyond the sunset, a hand will guide me. To God the Father whom I adore.
His glorious presence, His words of welcome, will be my portion on that fair shore.
Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion, with our dear loved ones who’ve gone before.
In that fair homeland we’ll know no parting.  Beyond the sunset forevermore.
Words by Virgil P. Brock Back

Apparently, I missed being exposed to this wonderful hymn while growing up.  Yet, I love the words and I especially like the very end!  I do believe I will be reminded of this song often as I absorb the beauty of the setting sun and the way it highlights everything around it!  I “just so happen” to have a few sunset pictures to add with this post!  May they remind you of the hope we have of seeing loved ones who knew Christ as their Savior again in Heaven one day! undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
