Distractions! They are Everywhere!

I love working outdoors, in the garden and in the flower beds.  Yet, I find that it takes me quite a while to make any progress when pulling weeds, trimming back that which is done blooming, etc…  Why is this?  Well, just take a peek at the following pictures!

Who wouldn’t be distracted by all the colors, textures and beauty right at eye level?!?  🙂

Then there are all the little critters that emerge when their habitat is disturbed:

Yes, all of these things are distracting as I attempt to keep up with flower beds and the garden, but I find them amazing and am willing to delay the end result in order to capture the little details I am blessed to see!

Here is to enjoying the process of accomplishing a task!  🙂

A Little Bit of Scenery…

It has been a while since I have taken the time to post some pictures of random beauty and uniqueness.  Although I do not have time to tell the story or thought behind all the photos taken I did include some details on a few toward the end.  🙂

 Have a great day, Everyone!

My husband was kindly teasing me not too long ago about how many sunSET pictures I take but how he rarely ever sees a sunRISE photo.  He was implying I am never up early enough to see the sunrise.  HaHa!  He knows that is NOT true, but it did challenge me to go outside and catch the beauty of a sunrise.  The challenge comes from the fact that we have trees blocking our view to the East and I have get creative when trying to capture the sunrise (easily and quickly) from our house!  Here is what I grabbed the camera for just the other day:

I just love that blue sky and those white clouds!

The photo below reminds me of how God owns the cattle on a thousand hills…

“For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle up a thousand hills.”  Psalm 50:10

May each of us find comfort in Him (God) who holds all within his care!

Rain?

As you will see from the pictures below, we live in one of the many locations that need rain!  The crops have not done well this year due to the lack of moisture.

When we saw these amazing clouds roll in the other day we had high hopes of a substantial amount of rain falling in our area!!!

Knowing the clouds would add so much to this sunset I ran out and snapped a few pictures – beautiful!

(Aside from adding the watermark, these sunset shots are straight out of the camera!)

Well, unfortunately, I did not have to run home after taking these pictures do to torrents of rain falling from the sky.  🙁

Where we live only had a slight amount of rainfall through the night – some is better than none!  For those who received several inches…we are envious but happy for you.  🙂

The Rodeo

It is that time of year again.  Gotta love a good, hometown rodeo!  Our kids were super excited about all the rodeo had to offer this year and anticipated attending  from the moment they awoke the day of the big event.  We had a wonderful evening and I enjoyed the additional challenge of working with my camera in low light – made me thankful there is such a thing as high ISO!  🙂  Here are some of the pictures that that day!

A Little Bit of Warmth

After the cold weather we have had I thought it would be fun to remind us all of the warmth that comes with Summer through this set of photos.  🙂

A friend of mine approached me about an idea she had.  She thought it would be fun to surprise her husband with some photos of their crops and pivots, wondering if I did that kind of thing.  Since I love taking pictures of God’s creation, scenic or “made in His image”, I said I would love to do this for her!

She explained what she was thinking and we later drove around together so she could show me various fields and where they were located.

The timing was tricky since (ideally) she desired the corn to be tasseled out, the pivots to be on (giant sprinklers for those who do not farm), and then there was the lighting/weather to work with.  Now, those pivots had to be timed just right!  They needed to be close to the road but they do not come on every day.  When they are on the pivots move rather slowly.  Catching them on AND close to the road WHEN the lighting was good was a challenge, but I am thankful to say it all came together and she was able to give her husband several large prints for Christmas this year – and he was very pleased!  🙂  As a memory, my kids and I laugh about the time I stood up on top of the car in order to see above the corn and capture these images.  🙂
