M – Senior 2014

I realize it is not a good thing to be so far behind on blogging, but I am really enjoying the reminder of how warm it was on these cold, chilly, winter days!  I hope the warmth of these pictures encourages you like it does me!  🙂

Let me introduce to you M.  I had the privilege of taking pictures for her family a few years ago and I was thrilled when the called me about taking M’s Senior pictures!  As we talked through ideas, locations and such we landed on some super special options for her!

We spent all of our time at ONE location!  Yes, all of the following pictures were taken at her Grandpa’s farm where she has spent tons of time through the years and where she has so many special memories!  We could have easily continued to take pictures…there were so many options!  Here is a bit of what we caught for her:

Isn’t M’s hair pretty?  A sweet friend of theirs came along and made sure it was looking good throughout her session – she did a great job!

Can you guess how M likes to spend her time?  Her Mom said this is often how she can be found around the house.

When she was little her Grandparents painted this swing set pink just for her.  🙂

M’s Grandmother spent a lot of time outside working in the flowerbeds when she was alive.  She painted and displayed this bike, making a perfect backdrop for some pictures.  These are some of my favorite!

A few other sweet spots around the farm.

A special gift from M’s Grandma…she may not physically be here but she is always with them in their hearts!

We discovered this guy all fired up when we entered his corral!  While M may not be an avid horsewoman, she does enjoy interacting with this handsome guy and wanted some pictures with him.  He did settle down and joined us for a few pictures!

M’s Grandpa kindly got out his jeep and let us use it in some pictures!  It is a rather sweet ride…he even jumped into a few pictures with M!  They are quite a pair!

A few more quick snaps around the farm.

As we wrapped up M’s session I snapped a few pictures of the changing sky…so pretty!  I love seeing the day end with such amazing colors!

Congratulations on this being your Senior year, M!  Thanks for asking me to be a small part of it through taking your pictures!  I hope you are enjoying each step toward the next phase of life! J, thanks for the amazing Monster Cookies you sent home with me…they were so yummy!  (Having the recipe is an added bonus, thank you!)

A – Senior 2014

A called me at the recommendation of a friend.  As we visited over the phone we began to formulate a plan for her session, one that would represent her interests, the things she has been involved with throughout high school, and capture her during this exciting time of life – her senior year!

She likes the rustic look and thought the locations I mentioned sounded just right.  So, when the day of her session came along, we connected in downtown Haddam and, after making a stop at an old farmstead, hit some of the spots around town we had talked about…I will explain more as you scroll through the pictures.  🙂

Working with A and her Mom was a true pleasure.  They came prepared with the supplies/props we had talked about and made quick changes as we worked against the setting sun!

These are from an old farmstead I really like!

Then we made our way back into Haddam and stopped at a few spots as we headed for the ball field.

I am glad there is a ball field in Haddam!  It has been a great place to take sport related pictures!  It was perfect for these shots of A in honor of the many competitive years she has spent playing the sport!

There was a location nearby where we took these few shots to represent the years A has spent enjoying dance!  She started when she was little and has thoroughly enjoyed it through the course of time!

Not only has A played softball and danced, she has also been known to hold own on the basketball court.  Thus the following shots:

I have always wished I could palm a ball like A is doing in the above picture!  Seeing it again makes me jealous!  🙂

A changed from her sport attire and came back looking lovely in this stunning, red formal!

What a great session!  So many wonderful pictures of A and the things she has enjoyed through the years!

A, thanks for asking me to take pictures for you!  You are a neat individual for whom great things are in store!

This was my view of the sunset that evening!

A – Senior 2014

I have known this young lady for quite a while and it has been a privilege to watch her “grow up”.  She is super smart, outgoing, enjoys kiddos and shares my love of photography!  🙂  When I was thinking about her session I couldn’t resist bringing along an old camera in case she would be game to use it – she was!  I love how those shots turned out!  Anyway, we started out in the pasture at her house – her “Enchanted Forest” – isn’t it pretty?

Would you have ever guessed that she had to go through this thick stuff to get to the “Enchanted Forest” or that we would have ridden in this Gator to get where we wanted to go?  What fun memories – and A handled it all with ease, even in a formal!  🙂  I, on the other hand, let out a scream when A drove straight through an evergreen tree line – and I am not a screamer!  She knew the path went straight through that area, I did not!  What a crazy time!

We stopped the Gator along the way and took the above shots in the field…love how her dog tagged along.

A’s family was a great help as we worked with her horse.  They had everything ready and waiting when we arrived at the “grove” area.  Her horse was so laid back…we had to go out of our way to get him to perk up his ears.  🙂  We definitely got some great shots of these two together in honor of the many hours and days spent with him through the years!

We stopped at this field and road (with the camera) on our way to another location.

We made our way to this bridge where A has great memories of throwing rock and sticks down into the water with family and friends.  Then we worked around a family farmstead…so many neat places to work – loved that area!

A, thanks for asking me to take your Senior pictures!  I had a great time with you (even if you made me scream!) and sure hope you are enjoying every moment of your Senior year!  🙂

D – Senior 2014

This young lady and I have known and worked with each other for several years…I can honestly say her Senior year “snuck up” on me!  It is hard to believe she will be moving on to the next stage of life next Fall and our paths will no longer routinely cross. Needless to say, I will miss her!

Through the years D and I had talked about the possibility of me “one day” taking her Senior pictures but nothing was ever solidified.  Therefore, I was thrilled when D and her Mom officially asked me to take her Senior pictures – YEA!!  🙂  The camera loves her and the locations chosen were just perfect for what she desired!  We broke her session into two seasons: Summer and Fall, you will see both in this post.

Her Summer session was held at a Family Farm…lot of sweet memories for her around this place!

Although we had a great time during D’s Summer session, it was pretty warm and we were both parched and hot by the time we wrapped up!  (So glad I brought that bottled water!!!)  The weather for D’s Fall session ended up being just perfect!  We hit some places I love based on the look she wanted in her Fall pictures!  Just can’t go wrong with such a lovely individual!  So glad her Mom was willing to pop into a few of the Fall shots as well – sweet memories for the two of them!  🙂

I know, there are a ton of pictures…sorry!  I seem to have such a hard time narrowing down which images to share, especially when there are so many awesome pictures of such a wonderful person!

D, I am excited about all your future holds!  Praying for you as you follow God’s lead, one step at a time!

J – Senior 2014

Here is another set of pictures taken on a warm day…a warm day when the wheat was still in the fields waiting to be harvested and sweet dresses could be worn!  Ahhhh, so refreshing to see during the super cold days of winter right now!

Let me introduce you to the one and only, brown-eyed, beautiful J.  She contacted me about taking her Senior pictures and, after hearing her thoughts, we began to map out a plan for her session.  I absolutely LOVED the sites she had chosen and the outfits she planned to use!  Our main challenge: doing everything we desired to accomplish within the time set aside for her session!  It was tight and J did several quick changes in the car driving from one location to another (with the help of her mom and sweet friend), but we were able to do so much during our time together!  Here is a look at what we caught for her:

We started at a family farm, using the wheat field and a huge old barn!

(I have always admired this barn from the road and had entertained thoughts of taking pictures there one day…J made that possible!  Very fun!!!)

Around the barn there were several other great spots for pictures, so we hit those quickly before moving on!

J had asked about taking some pictures near railroad tracks and an old dirt road she liked…we swung by the two and had so much fun snapping away!

The suitcases seemed so fitting: a Senior anticipating the next stage of life…preparing to move on to the next thing.  Walking down the road to see what is ahead and what the future holds for her.  I have no doubt she is going to do great things in life and enjoy the journey along the way!

We also went by J’s house…where I could have easily spent our whole time taking pictures!  So many neat spots for her in her FFA jacket and cute dress!

Taking pictures of J with her stately horse, D, was a true highlight!  He did so well while we had him out…I sure appreciated her parent’s help with him as well!  (Thanks, you two!)

This last picture is an all time favorite of mine!!!  J, thanks for entrusting me with your Senior pictures…I hope you enjoy them for years to come!  I also hope you thoroughly enjoy these remaining months of your final year of high school!
